I went from managing retail floors to managing React state, and the road between was anything but conventional.

What I Do

I'm a Senior Software Engineer focused on building fast, polished web experiences with React, TypeScript, and Next.js. I ship features quickly, collaborate closely with product and design teams, and genuinely enjoy mentoring other engineers. Helping people grow was my career before it became part of my engineering practice, and it's still one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

I've spent the last decade building across sports media, fintech, and e-commerce. Different industries, same approach: write clean code, communicate clearly, and keep the end user at the center of every decision.

Lately, I've been leaning into AI-assisted development. Tools like Claude Code have fundamentally changed how I build software, and I'm excited about teams and companies that are embracing AI as part of their engineering workflow.

How I Got Here

My first career was in management. I spent six years leading teams, first in retail, then in the nonprofit world where I managed AmeriCorps volunteers running STEM programs for underrepresented communities. It was meaningful work, and it taught me how to lead, collaborate, and break down complex problems for different audiences.

The switch to engineering happened almost by accident. I was vetting a programming course for one of our programs and got hooked. I started teaching myself to code, enrolled in a bootcamp, and never looked back. Over a decade later, I'm still just as excited about building fun and exciting things.

Outside of Code

I grew up in the Baltimore/DC area and now call Southern California home. When I'm not at my desk, you'll find me learning bachata, hunting down the best rollercoasters, sweating through hot yoga, playing beach volleyball, or locked into a strategy board game with friends.
